Paul and Timothy are praying for the people of Colossae because they have so
much HOPE in Christ. Since Paul and Timothy were made aware that these people
had so much faithfulness and hope in Christ, they started praying for them and
they didn't even know them. We should follow their example! Praying for not only
people in our lives that we have a personal relationship with but also those
that we don't even know by name should be like second nature.
There are 7 things that Paul and Timothy prayed for for the people of
Colossae, and if you are struggling with what to say when praying for a friend
they are good things to follow.
1. Thank God for them (Colossians 1:3)
2. Ask that they will be given wise minds. (Colossians 1:9)
3. Pray that they will honor God with their lives (Colossians 1:10)
4. pray that they will bear fruit of Christ in every good work that they
do. (Colossians 1:10)
5. Pray that they will increase their knowledge of God (Colossians
1:10)
6. Ask that they will be strengthened in all power with endurance,
patience, and joy. (Colossians 1:11)
7. Ask that they would also give thanks to the Father from whom their
inheritance comes. (Colossians 1:12)
