My Favorite Summer Antique Finds!

Hey Everyone out there! So, one of my most favorite things to do is to browse at antique stores and this summer we had SO much rain that I might have enjoyed this hobby a little too much the past few months! I really think that we had rain almost every single day in July!
In honor of my summer of antiquing I decided to share with you some of my favorite finds that I got!

Ever since we bought a new king size bed for our master bedroom I have been looking for the perfect bed side table and my mom helped me find this one which is exactly what I wanted! AND it was $20 and nothing had to be done to it at all! Perfect!

This little basket is the perfect fit for extra hand towels in my Guest Bathroom Makeover Post I found this treasure for $4 at my favorite local antique store and I knew this is exactly where I wanted to put it!

I used the small round blue mirror that I found for $8 to make the statement piece in my guest bathroom redo. With the $8 I spent on the mirror and $1.50 on cardboard I think that $9.50 for a large statement piece for the bathroom is a great price!

I put the tall cream vase with gold polka dots and my cream and black paisley vase in my china cabinet. You can see more details of that in my China Cabinet Change Up

I am so excited about my other finds that I haven't found a permanent home for, but I know that they are going to look great! Did anyone else spend time picking this summer???

Junk?

Hello out there!!!

I hope that everyone is staying out of this crazy heat! I don't know why, but it seems like I always forget how hot it gets in Alabama during the summer! Lately it has been so hot that I have spent a lot of time floating in my parents pool and it is fantastic!

Last Saturday my mom and I went yard saling which is one of our favorite things to do on a Saturday! We started at about 7am and by 9am it was so hot that we had to call it a morning!

We both found some great finds; my mom found a great old wicker chair, some old picture frames, and a few other things. I had some good luck and found great serving trays for our deck, nesting tables for our deck, a great lamp, and these great finds.....

I have been looking for a vanity chair to put in a naked corner in our master bedroom and I absolutely love this one! I love the height, the shape, and I love the fabric which is awesome because that means all it needed was a good clean up and it was ready! I got these great bowls for a steal and I love them for summertime because they are so colorful! I also found these great frames with old bird prints inside. I paid 50 cents for both, and I absolutely love them. I love the vintage feel and look. They go great in our guest bedroom!

I hope that all of you have gone to a few yard sales this summer!!! I would love to hear about your great finds!!

New Obsessions!!

Okay so I have some new obsessions! have any of you been to JoAnns? We just got a JoAnns in Huntsville, and I have never been to one, but I went a couple of weeks ago and wow! There is so much fabric in there it is crazy!!!!!
Does this material look familiar......

I have loved this fabric for a couple of years now. It always pops up in the decorating magazines that I looked it. It's an apron here, a pillow there, its really just everywhere! I found it online but it was a little pricey with shipping so I had to pass. WELL Joanns to the rescue!!! I saw it and started screaming! My mom noticed that it was from my blog right away. I just went ahead and bought 3 yards of it. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it, but I will find something!!! :)

So I know that if you are a girl anywhere around my age you can relate with me when it comes to the subject of beanie babies. I (along with all of you I'm sure) was an AVID beanie baby collector! I remember the very first one that I got. I was in the hospital for a couple of weeks the summer before 4th grade and one of our family friends brought me a couple of beanie babies. From there on out I was hooked. I was so incredibly spoiled with beanie babies. I remember when all of my friends had their slumber parties for their birthdays EVERYONE brought their beanie babies and we always played with them.

Well, in highschool I made a HUGE mistake. I decided to give away my beanie babies. I kept a small bag of a few, but parted ways with the rest. I decided last month that I would just start looking on ebay to see what all beanie babies were out there. This is what happened....

I ended up purchasing all of these hahaha! It is a bad bad bad addiction! I thought that Justin was going to check me into Beanie Baby Anonymous for sure! I don't know what I am going to do with them for the time being, but if nothing else they will be saved along with my American Girl dolls for my kids. I seriously just love them so much and they take me back to my childhood and that makes me so happy! So I know that most of my friends that follow this probably collected beanie babies too so I can't be the only one right!?!? Everyone tell me which beanie babies are your favorite!

Each Spring Justin's church (First Christian Church) has a huge rummage sale as a fundraiser for their youth mission trip. This year Justin's mom was in charge of it, and it was a HUGE success!! I haven't ever been able to help out with it or even go really, but this year I had some time to go and shop a little and here are my finds.... I got a brand new muffin pan for 50 cents!!!!! I am so excited! I got the really nice white baking piece for 2 dollars which is a steal! It is oven/dishwasher safe and it is HUGE! Justin's mom got me the bundt cake pan because I had to borrow hers becuase I don't have one haha! :) If you are still reading you are the best!

Antiques and Parmesan Chicken

One of my most favorite things to do is to go to Packards Antiques with my mom when we have nothing to do but waste a few hours! It is our favorite place to go and find antiques: dishes, furniture, jewelry, and all other kinds of things. I love going there, but I really haven't ever bought many things. My mom and I went to Packards on Monday and we both found some great things!

Here are my finds....

I found this cake plate, vase, and 2 dishes! And the best part is that I only spent 20 bucks for all of it!

It is really hard to get a good picture of the cake plate. I love it though it is my favorite find for sure! I got it for 1/2 off too! I love making cakes and I love the cake plate that I have now to serve them on!

Crock Pot Chicken Parmesan
Ingredients
  • 4-6 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1-2 beaten eggs
  • sliced mozzarella cheese
  • jar of favorite marinara sauce

Directions
1. Spread the olive oil into the bottom of your crock pot. Whip the egg with a fork in a separate bowl. Mix the bread crumbs with the seasonings and parmesan cheese in another dish.

Here are my dishes...

2. Dip the chicken into the egg, then into the bread crumb mixture, coating both sides with crumbs, cheese and seasonings.
Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of the crockpot.
Here are the chicken breasts in the bottom of the crock pot...

3. Layer slices of mozzarella cheese on top of the chicken breasts. I think that it took me about 6 slices to cover the chicken. Then, cover with the entire jar of marinara sauce...
It is ready to cook...
4. Close the lid and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours. If your chicken is still frozen, it will take longer.
Here is what it looks like all done...

You can serve with your favorite pasta or rice. Add some veggies, salad, or bread and you have a great meal!
